There’s something wonderfully comforting about a Devonshire tea. Maybe it’s the nostalgia, maybe it’s the ritual, or maybe it’s simply the joy of slowing down with a warm scone, a generous dollop of jam and cream, and a pot of fragrant tea. Whatever it is, we’re bringing it to life right here at The Port Admiral Hotel, with a little Port Adelaide history stirred in for good measure.
From 11:30am to 4pm, you can now treat yourself to house-made scones and jams, freshly baked and served warm, just the way they were enjoyed in the Port more than a century ago. Choose one scone with jam and cream for $11, or settle in properly with two for $15. Pair it with one of our delightful teas and you’ve got yourself the perfect weekday indulgence or weekend ritual.
A Taste of Yesteryear in the Heart of the Port
If these walls could talk, they’d tell you stories from 1849 — of sailors and settlers, traders and travellers — all passing through for a hearty meal, a stiff drink, or a moment of rest before continuing on their way. The Port Admiral has always been a meeting place, a pause point, a home away from home.
And honestly, that’s why bringing Devonshire teas to the Admiral just feels right.
There’s something beautifully simple about stopping in the middle of a busy day to enjoy a classic comfort like this. It’s the kind of experience the Port would’ve embraced back in the day: a chance to sit, chat, reset, and be looked after.
A Little Indulgence Never Hurt Anyone
Maybe you’re wandering the Port, exploring the riverfront, visiting the markets, or catching up with a friend. Or maybe you just need the kind of break that feels like a warm hug from your nan. Whatever brings you in, we’ll have the scones hot and the teapots ready.
So go on — treat yourself to a little moment of yesteryear at The Port Admiral.
Fresh scones, good company, a cosy corner in a historic pub… some things never lose their magic.
Devonshire Teas now available daily, 11:30am–4pm.
