Dark Tides Festival Returns: A Winter Solstice Celebration in the Heart of Port Adelaide
As the longest night of the year approaches, Port Adelaide is once again preparing to come alive with glowing lanterns, purple lights, live music, fire, winter warmers and that unmistakable Port Adelaide magic.
Dark Tides Festival returns on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 June 2026, inviting locals and visitors to rug up, gather their crew and wander through the historic streets of the Port for two nights of winter solstice celebrations.
This is your invitation to embrace the beauty of the darkness and the hope of returning light. Think chilly air and warm hearts, long nights and longer laughs, old traditions and fresh experiences — all wrapped up in one very walkable winter wonderland.
Follow the Purple Lights
One of the best parts of Dark Tides is the sense of discovery. Follow the purple lights through Port Adelaide and let them guide you between venues, laneways, lanterns, firepits, music, food and drinks.
Lanterns by the Port Adelaide Artists Forum, Tutti Arts and Toxic Surf will illuminate the path and spark your sense of wonder throughout the weekend. Start at one venue, then wander to the next — every stop has its own flavour, its own atmosphere and its own reason to linger a little longer.

Whether you’re a returning reveller or a curious first-timer, this year’s Dark Tides is full of reasons to layer up and head into the Port.
Winter Solstice Pub Trail
Grab your coat, follow the glow and meander through the historic streets of Port Adelaide, stopping in at participating pubs, bars and local venues along the way. Each venue will bring something different to the festival, from mulled wine and winter cocktails to wine flights, martinis, DJs, live music, fire rituals and late-night after-party energy.
Live Music, DJs and After-Party Vibes
From acoustic duos tucked into cosy corners to DJs carrying the night late into the evening, music will be a big part of the Dark Tides atmosphere. The Dock Wine Bar, 10 Gallon Hat, Milledge’s Distillery, Colac and Confessions will all bring their own sound to the weekend.
Hearty Winter Fare
Fuel your wanderings with soul-warming winter food from local kitchens. Fergie Mac’s will be serving Pagan Stew, soiled mash and stomped greens from 6pm on Friday and Saturday, with plenty more winter-friendly food and drink specials across the participating venues.
Fire, Lanterns and Winter Magic
Expect firepits, fire performers, lanterns, purple lights and plenty of atmospheric winter moments. McGregor & Young will host tarot readings, Find Your Fated Cocktail and the Lighting of the Fire from 3pm to 9pm both nights, while Confessions will bring fire performers to the after-party experience.
A Walkable Wonderland
The beauty of Dark Tides is that it is designed to be explored on foot. Follow the purple lights, wander between venues, stop when something catches your eye, and make your own festival trail through the Port.
Whether you are chasing a dancefloor, a firepit, a glass of red, a winter cocktail, a courtyard to sip wine in, or a cosy nook to escape the chill, Port Adelaide has a space for every kind of winter soul.
Participating Venues and Festival Highlights
This year’s participating venues include The Port Admiral Hotel, Confessions, Fergie Mac’s, The Dock Wine Bar, Colac, McGregor & Young, 10 Gallon Hat and Milledge’s Distillery.
The Port Admiral Hotel
The Port Admiral Hotel will be serving mulled wine and Dark Tides cocktails all weekend across Friday and Saturday. Warm up, settle in and use Papa as your winter basecamp while you explore the rest of the festival trail.
Confessions
Confessions will host the Dark Tides after party on Friday and Saturday, with DJs from 9pm until late and fire performers adding extra heat to the night.
Fergie Mac’s
Fergie Mac’s will be serving Pagan Stew, soiled mash and stomped greens from 6pm Friday and Saturday — proper winter food with a Dark Tides twist.
The Dock Wine Bar
The Dock Wine Bar will feature Matuezi Acoustic Duo on Friday from 7:30pm, McGuiredForSound on Saturday from 7:30pm, plus Dark Tides wine flights and martinis.
Colac
Colac will bring the outdoor winter energy with forecourt firepits on Friday and a DJ on the forecourt on Saturday.
McGregor & Young
McGregor & Young will host tarot readings, Find Your Fated Cocktail and the Lighting of the Fire from 3pm to 9pm on Friday and Saturday.
10 Gallon Hat
10 Gallon Hat will have movies in the courtyard with popcorn and beanbags on Friday from 7pm, followed by DJ Johnny Seagull on Saturday from 7pm.
Milledge’s Distillery
Milledge’s Distillery will feature Benjamin Roberts performing on Friday from 7pm.
